The increasing cooperation between the Association of Arab Universities, the
European University Association and the European Union in the academic field is
an important factor contributing to creating real opportunities for
communication and direct interaction between Arab and European academic
institutions in the academic field, specifically as it pertains to signing
joint cooperation agreements and executing joint educational programs.
The Secretary
General of the Association of Arab Universities, Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi Al Adwan,
who participated in the Third Dialogue Conference for the South Mediterranean
Countries on Higher Education Policies, concluded in the Belgian city of
Brussels on 13/7/2016, stressed that the dialogue will contribute to addressing
the challenges facing the higher education sector in the Arab region. The
Dialogue Conference focused on the development of cooperation between the
European Union and the southern Mediterranean countries in the field of higher
education, the role of higher education institutions in times of crises,
integrating refugees into the universities, enhancing university independence,
creating a framework for national qualifications, and streamlining digital
technologies in higher education.
Dr. Abu Orabi also
highlighted the prominent and comprehensive role played by the Association of
Arab Universities at the Arab and international areans in the area of promoting
the level of higher education and serving the Arab communities and current
issues, through organizing academic and sceintific conferences, seminars and
activities and offering all means of support available to the activities
organized by Arab universities. He added that the Association plays a prominent
role in the dialogue with the Arab and international institutions to
accommodate the refugee students and professors from the Arab countries experiencing
extraordinary circumstances.
