Jordan Participates in Second Arab Asian Conference for University Presidents in Kuala Lumpur

 

Amman, 21 October – The Second Arab Asian  Global Higher Education summit , inaugurated on the 18th of October under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education  in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, concluded its work today. The Conference was organized by the Association of Arab Universities in cooperation with the  Islamic Science University of Malaysia, and included Jordanian and international representation.

The Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi Al Adwan told the Jordanian News Agency Petra that there was Asian and Malaysian interest in this international conference, and added that the attendance of some Jordanian and Malaysian ministers and officials enriched the conference with Asian academic and official intentions to increase cooperation and coordination with the Arab World. The conference was also attended by representatives from India, Uganda, Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, Bangkok and Vietnam.

Dr. Abu Arabi continued that the Association started to move in the direction of globalization around five years ago and was able to create a distinctive international academic platform for Arab universities through which they can bridge the gap between the Arab culture and other cultures, in addition to building sustainable academic relations. He pointed out that this conference comes one month after the conclusion of the Fourth Forum for the Presidents of Chinese and Arab Universities, which worked at Zarqa University at the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan recently.

It is noteworthy that the Association’s delegation was led by the Secretary General and included the Assistant Secretary General of the Association Dr. Mohammad Rafat Mahmoud, the Vice President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology Dr. Abdullah Al Zoubi, and the Association’s Manager, May Wahbeh.
