The
Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama
took office on 1 July 2018 at the Association of Arab Universities headquarters
in Amman for an initial term of three years, after winning the General
Secretariat elections at the General Conference of the Association held in the
United Arab Emirates recently.
Assistant
Secretary General Dr. Abdul Rahim Al-Hunaiti also has just started his new job
as Assistant Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities.
Dr. Salama
said that he is happy to stay in Jordan because of its cultural images and a
safe atmosphere that formed a model for security and stability in the region.
About the
Association of Arab Universities, he said that he is in the process of
announcing an ambitious plan and a scientific and practical strategy to continue
the achievements of the Association and to improve the Arab universities
international standing.
He thanked
the former Secretary-General Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi, who ended his term of office
for the previous two sessions, praising his efforts in upgrading and developing
the Association during his tenure.
It is
noteworthy that Dr. Salama was a Minister of Higher Education, the president of
Helwan University, was also a former member of the Shura Council (upper house
of parliament in Egypt) and head of its housing committee and is the chairman
of the Management Engineering Society.
Dr. Salama
received the Medal of Sciences and Arts of the First Class, the State Award for
Science in engineering science, published numerous articles in international
journals and conferences and supervised hundreds of graduate students.
