Beijing, 13 October 2026
Advancing international academic cooperation, research, and innovation is central to the Association of Arab Universities’ (AArU) mission to strengthen partnerships between Arab universities and their counterparts worldwide.
H.E. Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, AArU Secretary-General, participated in the 2026 China–Arab Engineers Exchange, held in Beijing from 12 to 15 October under the theme “Harmony and Synergy along the Digital Silk Road: Joint Engineering Innovation between China and Arab Countries.” The event brought together more than 100 engineers from China and Arab countries and was jointly organized by the Chinese Society of Engineers and the Federation of Arab Engineers.
In his keynote address, Prof. Salama examined the future of engineering education in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), emphasizing the importance of critical thinking, lifelong learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and responsible technology use in preparing future engineers.
He highlighted the potential of China–Arab cooperation in AI, renewable energy, water desalination, smart cities, and sustainable infrastructure. He also proposed establishing a “China–Arab Engineering Corridor” to promote joint research and innovation, student and faculty exchange, skills development, and stronger partnerships among universities, engineering organizations, and industry.
Prof. Salama reaffirmed AArU’s readiness to work with Chinese partners and the Federation of Arab Engineers to translate this vision into practical collaborative projects, stressing that successful international cooperation should be measured by its tangible impact on innovation, professional development, and sustainable development.
AArU’s participation reflects its continued commitment to international partnerships that connect higher education, research, and innovation with regional development priorities.
