AArU Welcomes Former Secretary-General

The Association of Arab Universities (AArU) welcomed Prof. Dr. Mohamed Faraj Daghim, former Secretary-General of AArU, who served from 1985 to 1991, at the Association’s headquarters in Amman.
The visit provided an opportunity to reconnect with one of the Association’s former leaders, reflect on key milestones in its institutional journey, and learn more about the continued development of its programmes and activities.
Prof. Dr. Daghim was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Anas Ratib Al-Soud, Executive Director of AArU, Ms. Lina Al-Bitar, Director General of Administration, and Mr. Ahmad Al-Qadomi, Finance Director.
Discussions covered the evolution of AArU since its establishment, the development of its role and activities, and its contribution to supporting Arab universities and higher education institutions. The meeting also addressed major developments shaping higher education at the regional and international levels, as well as opportunities to strengthen cooperation and connectivity among Arab universities.
Prof. Dr. Daghim expressed his pleasure at visiting the Association’s headquarters and learning about the progress achieved across its programmes and activities. He also conveyed his appreciation for the recognition extended to him and emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination among Arab universities and advance higher education and research across the Arab world.
At the conclusion of the visit, AArU honoured Prof. Dr. Daghim in recognition of his service and contributions during his tenure as Secretary-General. He was presented with the Association of Arab Universities Shield, in appreciation of his role in the Association’s institutional journey and development.
The visit reflects AArU’s continued commitment to maintaining strong ties with its former leaders and academic figures, recognizing their contributions, and drawing on their experience and institutional knowledge to further strengthen the Association’s role in advancing Arab higher education and academic cooperation.
