ArU Secretary-General Discusses Leadership and Impact in “Life Makers”

Life Makers Foundation, through its TRiVol Leadership Program and “Inspiring Figures” series, hosted H.E. Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities (AArU), for a dialogue titled “From Knowledge to Impact | Inside a Leader’s Mind.”

The dialogue focused on Prof. Salama’s academic and professional journey and his experience in higher education, scientific research, leadership, and institutional work. TRiVol is one of Life Makers Foundation’s initiatives aimed at developing youth leadership capacities, while “Inspiring Figures” provides a platform for direct dialogue with experienced leaders.

H.E. Prof. Salama reflected on key stages of his career, the challenges he encountered, and his perspective on leadership and its responsibilities. He highlighted the importance of building a clear vision, sound decision-making, continuous learning, and turning challenges into opportunities for growth and development.

He also emphasized the importance of institutional work and strategic partnerships in achieving sustainable results, strengthening teams and capabilities, and transforming knowledge and experience into meaningful impact.

The discussion further explored the human dimension of leadership and the role of trust, responsibility, listening, and decision-making in leading change and translating vision into action that serves institutions and society.

The session included an interactive exchange with participants, who raised questions about leadership, career development, difficult decisions, capacity building, and learning from professional experience.

The dialogue also provided an opportunity for H.E. Prof. Salama to engage directly with young people and share insights from his academic and professional experience, emphasizing continuous learning, self-development, and the importance of transforming knowledge into practice and impact.
