Association of Arab Universities Discusses the Future of AI and Digital Transformation in Higher Education

The Association of Arab Universities (AArU) organized an interactive webinar entitled “The Global Landscape of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation in Supporting Arab Universities,” in partnership with NOVETI AI and Pluralsight, bringing together academics, specialists, and professionals interested in AI, digital skills, and institutional transformation in higher education.
The webinar was opened by H.E. Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of AArU, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Anas Ratib Al-Soud, Executive Director of AArU. Discussions focused on the rapid developments in AI, technology, and digital skills, and the opportunities they offer Arab universities to strengthen their capabilities and respond to the evolving needs of education and the world of work.
In his remarks, Prof. Salama emphasized the importance of enabling Arab universities to keep pace with advances in AI and digital transformation, while using emerging technologies to enhance education, strengthen student and faculty capabilities, and support universities’ competitiveness and readiness for the future.
Prof. Al-Soud highlighted the importance of expanding partnerships with organizations specializing in technology and digital skills, and providing practical solutions that can help Arab universities develop the capabilities of their students and academic staff and advance institutional digital transformation.
The webinar featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Nazeer Youssef, CEO of NOVETI AI, and Ms. Hannah Ferry, Sales Account Manager for Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Pluralsight, who presented their organizations’ digital learning and skills solutions and discussed opportunities for Arab universities to access these platforms and integrate them into institutional skills-development strategies.
Key topics included global trends in AI and digital skills, opportunities for technology-enabled education and research, university partnerships with technology providers, and the development of digital capabilities among students and academic staff. Participants also discussed practical aspects of implementation, including licensing, institutional adoption, and the integration of digital tools into university skills-development plans.
The webinar reflects AArU’s ongoing efforts to support Arab universities in navigating the rapidly evolving AI and digital transformation landscape, strengthening international partnerships, and equipping students and academic communities with the skills needed for the future of education and work.
