Association of Arab Universities organizes Workshop on International Accreditation for Business Schools in Cooperation with the Libyan Ministry of Higher Education

The Association of Arab Universities (AArU), in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Libya and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), organized an online workshop on international accreditation for business schools.

The workshop aimed to introduce participants to international accreditation standards and requirements, explore the accreditation process, and highlight its role in enhancing academic programs, institutional performance, education, and research.

The workshop was opened by Prof. Dr. Hisham Abdel-Nasser, Director of the Arab Council for Quality Assurance and Accreditation at AArU, who welcomed experts, university representatives, and participants. He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Arab universities and international organizations specializing in quality assurance and accreditation, while benefiting from global expertise and best practices.

Prof. Abdel-Nasser also highlighted AArU’s commitment to expanding international academic partnerships and supporting Arab universities in developing their academic programs and institutional capacity in line with international standards.

A keynote presentation was delivered by Mr. Ihsan Zakri, Vice President, Growth and Engagement – Europe, Middle East and Africa at AACSB, who highlighted the importance of international accreditation for business schools and its role in advancing institutional performance, quality, continuous improvement, and educational impact.

The workshop covered three main areas: the importance of international accreditation for business schools; AACSB standards and the practical steps involved in the accreditation process; and an interactive discussion addressing challenges, requirements, and approaches to strengthening quality systems.

The workshop reflects AArU’s continued efforts to promote quality and academic excellence, support Arab universities in adopting international standards and practices, and expand cooperation with specialized accreditation organizations, contributing to the sustainable development and international competitiveness of Arab higher education.
