Association of Arab Universities Participates in Preparations for the Global Universities Associations Forum (GUAF)

As part of its efforts to strengthen international cooperation and expand partnerships among university associations and higher education institutions, the Association of Arab Universities (AArU) participated, represented by Prof. Dr. Walid Abu Salama, AArU Advisor, and Mr. Ziad Amara, Officer in Charge of International Relations, in the third virtual engagement of the Global Universities Associations Forum (GUAF), held on 18 September 2026.
The meeting was part of the preparations for GUAF 2026, to be hosted by the Association of African Universities (AAU) in Accra, Ghana, on 10–11 November 2026.
Discussions focused on strengthening GUAF as a global platform for dialogue, cooperation, and coordination among university associations and higher education institutions, with particular attention to the future university, innovation, digital transformation, micro-credentials, and universities’ role in societal development.
Participants also explored opportunities for joint initiatives in digital learning, student and researcher mobility, and academic and research collaboration, while discussing GUAF’s objectives, governance, membership, ways of working, and future expansion.
AArU’s participation reflects its commitment to strengthening its international engagement and contributing to global dialogue on the future of higher education.
The engagement also forms part of the preparations for AArU to assume the Chairmanship of GUAF in 2027, further supporting international cooperation and joint initiatives among university associations worldwide.
