The Second Arab–Indian Universities Presidents’ Summit, held at Ajman University under the theme “Impact Beyond Borders: Research, Innovation, and Academic Mobility,” concluded with the participation of senior academic leaders and representatives of higher education stakeholders from both the Arab region and India. The summit brought together more than 50 Arab and Indian universities, reflecting the growing commitment to strengthening academic cooperation between the two regions.
The summit was organized in cooperation with the Association of Arab Universities, the League of Arab States, the Ministry of External Affairs of India, and the University Grants Commission of India, building on the outcomes of the first summit held in New Delhi in 2025. It aimed to establish a sustainable institutional platform for academic collaboration between both sides.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Professor Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, emphasized that the summit convened at a time of rapid transformation in global higher education. He stressed that universities are no longer measured solely by their history, but by their capacity to generate knowledge, foster innovation, and serve sustainable development. He noted that the summit’s theme reflects a shift toward effective partnerships that move beyond dialogue to implementation, translating cooperation into measurable results and sustainable impact.
His Excellency also introduced the proposed “10+10” Strategic Cooperation Program, which aims to establish long-term partnerships between ten Arab and ten Indian universities in priority fields, including artificial intelligence, health sciences, sustainability, advanced engineering, and innovation—thereby enhancing the scientific and economic value of joint cooperation.
The summit featured plenary and panel sessions focusing on strengthening joint scientific research, supporting academic mobility, and advancing institutional partnerships, contributing to a more integrated framework for cooperation between Arab and Indian universities.
He concluded by affirming that the summit’s success should be measured by the actionable pathways and practical partnerships it generated, calling for the “Ajman Declaration 2026” to serve as a reference framework for advancing sustainable academic cooperation between the two sides.
