The Association of Arab Universities (AArU) welcomed a delegation from the Sharjah Archaeology Authority, Government of Sharjah, to discuss opportunities for strengthening academic and research cooperation, particularly in scientific publishing, academic peer review, indexing, digital archiving, and research in archaeology and heritage.
The delegation was received by H.E. Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of AArU, at the Association’s headquarters in Amman. The meeting was attended by Prof. Anas Al-Soud, Executive Director, and Ms. Lina Al-Bitar, Director of Administration.
The Sharjah Archaeology Authority delegation was headed by Dr. Saeed Abdullah bin Yaroof Al Naqbi, Director of the Authority, and included Ms. Amna Al Ali, Director of Government Communication; Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hamid Al-Nimr, Head of Scientific Content; and Mr. Basel Mohammed, Secretary to the Director’s Office.
The meeting explored opportunities to benefit from AArU’s expertise in scientific publishing, journal development, academic peer review, indexing and classification, and digital archiving, while strengthening academic and research partnerships in archaeology and heritage.
H.E. Prof. Salama highlighted the importance of scientific publishing in advancing research and strengthening the global visibility of Arab knowledge. He also emphasized the role of modern technologies in indexing and digital archiving to preserve and expand access to specialized knowledge.
The delegation also presented the Authority’s experience in scientific publishing through its specialized academic journal, discussing opportunities for cooperation with AArU in peer review, publishing, and academic licensing.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue coordination and identify practical areas for collaboration, supporting quality scientific publishing, research cooperation, and the preservation and dissemination of knowledge related to Arab archaeology and heritage.
