Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities, participated in the activities of the 11th International Conference of the Arab Impact Factor, hosted for the first time by Al-Azhar University under the theme: “Islamic Economics and Digital Transformation.” The conference was held under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and brought together a distinguished group of academic leaders, university presidents, researchers, and experts in scientific publishing from across the Arab region and beyond.
Organized by the Arab Impact Factor in cooperation with the Association of Arab Universities, the conference is being held from 7–9 May 2026 with broad participation from Arab universities, research centers, peer-reviewed journals, and high-level academic delegations. The event addresses a range of strategic themes related to digital transformation, artificial intelligence, scientific publishing, humanities, and sustainability, reflecting the growing regional interest in advancing scientific research and enhancing the quality of Arab academic publishing.
During the opening session, the Secretary General delivered a keynote address in which he expressed his appreciation for participating in this distinguished Arab scientific event and praised Al-Azhar University as a longstanding beacon of knowledge that bridges authenticity and modernity. He also emphasized the importance of the Arab Impact Factor project as one of the leading initiatives supporting the development of Arab scientific publishing and strengthening its international visibility.
Prof. Salama further stressed that the current phase requires redefining the relationship between knowledge, development, and technology in light of rapid global transformations, noting that the real challenge today lies not only in producing knowledge, but also in ensuring its quality, impact, and connection to economic and industrial development, while increasing investment in scientific research.
In addition, Prof. Salama chaired the conference’s first scientific session, dedicated to exploring the relationship between the humanities and advanced technologies. He underscored that this integration is no longer merely an intellectual option, but a strategic necessity imposed by the profound transformations taking place in the fields of economy and knowledge. He also highlighted the critical role of Arab universities in leading this transformation through the modernization of academic programs, the promotion of interdisciplinary research, and the effective integration of advanced technologies in support of sustainable development and the advancement of Arab scientific research internationally.
This conference reflects the Association of Arab Universities’ continued commitment to supporting international scientific events, strengthening academic partnerships, and contributing to the advancement of higher education and scientific research across the Arab world.
