H.E. Professor Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, participated in the international summit “Co-Shaping the Global Future of Digital Education: Promoting Global Connectivity through Boundless Education,” held at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge, bringing together university presidents, academic leaders, policymakers, and experts from around the world.
H.E. Professor Salama delivered the keynote address, “The Future University Without Borders: Building Human-Centered Digital Education for a Connected World,” addressing the rapid transformation of higher education driven by technological advancement and artificial intelligence. He emphasized the need to build universities that are digitally advanced, globally connected, and fundamentally human-centered, while preserving academic and human values.
He stressed that the university of the future must move beyond the traditional transmission of knowledge toward capacity building, critical thinking, innovation, and lifelong learning, while fostering meaningful partnerships among universities, governments, industry, and research and innovation institutions.
H.E. Professor Salama also highlighted the Association of Arab Universities’ vision for advancing digital transformation, innovation, and international collaboration across Arab higher education, emphasizing the importance of investing in human capital and strengthening the capacity of Arab universities to contribute effectively to the global knowledge economy.
He further participated in the University Presidents Roundtable, which addressed the future of universities, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and the role of academic leadership in driving institutional change and strengthening international collaboration and partnerships.
H.E. Professor Salama emphasized that the future of education requires a balanced approach between technology and humanity, and innovation and academic values, while underscoring the importance of international cooperation and knowledge exchange in advancing higher education and responding to emerging global challenges.
This participation reflects the Association of Arab Universities’ commitment to strengthening its presence in international academic forums and expanding dialogue with policymakers, university leaders, institutions, and partners worldwide. It further supports the openness of Arab universities to international expertise and best practices, while creating opportunities for strategic partnerships in education, research, innovation, and digital transformation, and strengthening the position of Arab higher education within the global academic landscape.
