The General Conference
It consists of the presidents or directors of member educational institutions, or their representatives, with each active member institution having one vote.
Leaders of Arab universities gather at the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates on 25–26 November 2026.
The conference is being held at the gracious invitation of Prof. Dr. Essam El-Din Ajami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, who is honored to host the presidents and directors of Arab universities that are members of the Association, or their representatives.
An annual platform bringing together academic leaders to shape the Association's general direction and make key institutional decisions.
It consists of the presidents or directors of member educational institutions, or their representatives, with each active member institution having one vote.
The General Conference convenes once every year at the place and time determined at its previous meeting, in accordance with Article 8 of the Association's Statute.
Each institution is represented by its president or director, or by a delegate from its board or supervising authority. One member may represent only one other member by written authorization.
The General Conference is chaired by the president or director of the host institution, and the Conference elects two vice presidents and a general rapporteur.

Forming the Executive Council and determining its powers and number of members.
Approving the general policy, strategy and action plan; the annual budget and final accounts; regulations and bylaws; membership decisions; and the establishment of institutions affiliated with the Association.
Approving amendments to the Association's Statute or suspending its implementation.
Electing the Secretary General from among candidates nominated by member institutions.
Forming committees to study specific matters falling within the Conference's remit.
Approving the policy for investing the Association's resources in line with its objectives and institutional sustainability.
