The Association of Arab Universities and AARINENA Organize Webinar on Education and Peace

The Association of Arab Universities (AArU), in collaboration with the Arab Association of Research Institutions in the Dry Areas (AARINENA), organized an online webinar entitled “Sprouts of Peace: From the Roots of Education, a New Voice Grows for a More Peaceful World.”

The webinar was moderated by Prof. Anas Al-Soud, Executive Director of the Association of Arab Universities, and brought together academics, researchers, and individuals interested in education, peace, and sustainability.

At the beginning of the webinar, Prof. Al-Soud emphasized the importance of education as a fundamental pillar for building peace and fostering understanding among societies. He highlighted the pivotal role of higher education institutions in preparing responsible and conscious generations capable of driving positive change and contributing to a more peaceful and sustainable future.

He also stressed the importance of cooperation among universities and educational institutions, as well as empowering young people and providing them with opportunities to actively serve their communities. He noted that investing in youth potential and strengthening human values are essential to building more prosperous and cohesive societies.

The webinar featured Dr. José Zaglul, Founder and President Emeritus of EARTH University in Costa Rica, a prominent figure in sustainable agriculture, ethical education, and higher education. Dr. Zaglul discussed the role of education in equipping young people with the knowledge, values, and skills needed to become ethical leaders and active agents of positive change.

He further emphasized that the role of higher education extends beyond knowledge transfer and professional preparation to fostering human values and social responsibility, enabling students to address contemporary challenges and contribute to innovative and sustainable solutions for a more peaceful future.

The webinar forms part of a youth-led global initiative that brings together universities, educational institutions, and communities to promote a culture of peace and build a more sustainable future through community initiatives, the exchange of experiences and inspiring stories, and a shared commitment to future generations.
