The Association of Arab Universities (AArU) concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Arab Digital Database e-Marefa and the Arab Citation & Impact Factor (Arcif) at its headquarters in Amman, Jordan, to strengthen scientific and institutional cooperation and support the advancement of research and academic publishing across the Arab world.
The MoU was signed by H.E. Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of AArU, and Prof. Sami Al-Khazendar, President of the Arcif Initiative, in the presence of Prof. Anas Ratib Al-Soud, Executive Director of AArU, and Ms. Lina Al-Bitar, Director of General Administration.
H.E. Prof. Salama emphasized that the agreement marks an important step toward strengthening cooperation among Arab higher education and research institutions. He highlighted the importance of reliable scientific databases and research indicators in advancing the Arab Universities Ranking and enhancing the global competitiveness of Arab universities. He also noted that Arcif plays a significant role in supporting Arabic-language academic publishing by providing rigorous standards and indicators to assess the quality and impact of peer-reviewed Arab journals, thereby improving research quality and promoting academic excellence across Arab universities.
Prof. Al-Khazendar expressed his appreciation for the partnership with AArU, stressing its importance in supporting Arab scientific research and promoting the use of specialized research metrics to evaluate the quality and impact of Arab scholarly output.
This MoU reflects AArU’s ongoing commitment to building strategic partnerships with specialized scientific institutions and supporting initiatives that enhance research quality, academic publishing, and evidence-based evaluation across Arab universities.
