Prof. Anas Ratib Al-Soud, Executive Director of the Association of Arab Universities (AArU), welcomed Prof. Emad Mohammed, President of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information (AFLI), together with Mr. Muhannad Al-Ratrout and Eng. Nizar Al-Hamoud from the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, at the AArU General Secretariat headquarters in Amman. The meeting was attended by Ms. Lina Al-Bitar, Director of General Administration at AArU, and Dr. Hisham Abdel Nasser, Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Council at the Association.
The meeting explored prospects for strengthening cooperation between the Association of Arab Universities and the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information, with particular emphasis on the proposed establishment of the Arab Libraries Network. The initiative aims to enhance collaboration and integration among university libraries and information institutions across the Arab world, facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge resources, support digital transformation, and advance modern library services.
The participants emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative in reinforcing the knowledge and scientific research infrastructure across the Arab region and in fostering greater coordination among Arab institutions in the fields of libraries and information. Such collaboration is expected to benefit Arab universities, researchers, and students while promoting innovation and knowledge sharing.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue consultations and coordination to develop a practical framework for implementing the initiative and achieving its strategic objectives.
