The Association of Arab Universities (AArU) received a high-level delegation representing a number of leading Russian universities, within the framework of its ongoing efforts to broaden its international partnership network and further advance academic and scientific collaboration between higher education institutions in the Arab world and the Russian Federation.
The meeting focused on exploring strategic avenues for cooperation and establishing a sustainable institutional framework for joint initiatives. In this context, Dr. Anas Al-Soud, Executive Director of the Association of Arab Universities, presented the Association’s strategic vision for the development and modernization of the Arab higher education system. He delivered a comprehensive briefing on the Arab University Ranking, underscoring its role as a strategic quality-enhancement instrument designed to elevate institutional and academic performance across Arab universities and strengthen their competitiveness at both regional and global levels.
Dr. Al-Soud highlighted the rigorous criteria and methodology underpinning the ranking framework, which is structured around key performance indicators including academic excellence, research productivity and impact, innovation, community engagement, governance, and sustainability.
The discussions also addressed practical mechanisms for activating bilateral and multilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on:
