The Association of Arab Universities (AArU) hosted the 58th Ordinary Session of the Higher Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action in Amman, Jordan, under the chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Chair of the Committee, with the participation of heads and senior representatives of Arab organizations, unions, and institutions.
The meeting opened with remarks by H.E. Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, who emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional coordination and integration among Arab organizations to address shared challenges and advance sustainable development across the Arab region.
In his address, H.E. Ahmed Aboul Gheit highlighted the need to deepen cooperation and strategic partnerships among Arab institutions in order to effectively respond to regional and global developments while serving the priorities and aspirations of Arab states and peoples.
The Committee reviewed key achievements accomplished by member organizations over the past decade and discussed recommendations aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of joint Arab action and strengthening institutional performance.
The meetings also witnessed the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding between the Association of Arab Universities and both the Arab Tourism Organization and the Arab Labour Organization, reinforcing cooperation, knowledge exchange, and joint initiatives in areas of mutual interest.
This session holds particular significance as the Association of Arab Universities is among the founding organizations participating in the framework of Joint Arab Action since 1964, reflecting its longstanding commitment to advancing Arab cooperation in higher education, scientific research, and human capacity development.
