The Association of Arab Universities Participates in an Online Webinar on World Youth Day

H.E. Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities (AArU), participated in an online webinar marking World Youth Day, entitled “Financial Inclusion, Cultural and Artistic Creativity, and the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Entrepreneurship,” with the participation of prominent leaders, experts, and specialists in economics, culture, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The webinar was organized with the participation of several Arab institutions and organizations, including the Arab Council for Social Responsibility (ACSR), Arabian Utopia, the Arab Universities Knowledge Network for Climate Change and Carbon Footprint (AUKNCCF), the G100 Digital Media & E-Commerce Wing – Egypt, the Arab Union for Volunteering, and Misr El Kheir Foundation.
In his address, Prof. Salama highlighted the role of youth in shaping the future, emphasizing the importance of providing young people with the knowledge, tools, and opportunities needed to become active partners in development and future-making.
He noted that artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the economy, labour market, education, and creative industries, stressing the need to move beyond concerns about AI replacing jobs toward exploring how it can be leveraged to create new jobs, opportunities, and ventures, enabling young people to transform ideas into projects with economic and social value.
Prof. Salama also highlighted the importance of cultural and artistic creativity, noting the Arab world’s rich heritage, culture, arts, language, and creative industries as valuable sources of economic opportunities and employment for young people. He emphasized the importance of harnessing digital technologies and AI while preserving cultural identity and human values.
He further outlined key practical priorities, including integrating AI, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy skills into higher education; expanding university innovation and entrepreneurship incubators; supporting cultural and creative industries; and building Arab networks that enable young people to move from local to regional and global markets.
Concluding his address, Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama encouraged Arab youth to “not wait for the future, but participate in shaping it,” calling on them to embrace AI and technology while preserving critical thinking, creativity, identity, values, and social responsibility.
The participation reflects the Association of Arab Universities’ commitment to supporting youth development, strengthening the role of universities in empowering future generations, and promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and the effective use of emerging technologies in support of sustainable development.
