His Excellency Professor Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities (AArU), held a meeting with Professor Mohammed Hamoud Al-Qudsi, President of Saba Region University in the Republic of Yemen, to discuss the procedures for the university’s accession to the Association and to explore opportunities for strengthening academic cooperation among Arab universities.
The meeting, which was held via video conference (Zoom), was attended by Professor Mohammed Khenbash, President of Hadhramout University, and Professor Salem Bafaqir, President of Al-Rayyan University, in addition to Ms. Lina Al-Bitar, Director General of the Association of Arab Universities. The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts to complete the requirements for Saba Region University’s membership in the Association.
During the meeting, participants discussed several topics related to the procedures and requirements for joining the Association. They also reviewed opportunities for developing educational and research programs, as well as mechanisms for establishing effective academic partnerships that would facilitate the exchange of expertise and strengthen integration among higher education institutions across the Arab world.
In this context, H.E. Professor Amr Ezzat Salama reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to expanding its membership base and attracting universities with ambitious visions and promising capabilities. He emphasized that such expansion contributes to strengthening the Association’s role in supporting the advancement of Arab higher education and enhancing academic cooperation among member universities. He also noted that the accession of Saba Region University would represent a valuable addition that would further broaden areas of scientific collaboration and promote academic integration among Arab universities.
For his part, Professor Mohammed Hamoud Al-Qudsi, President of Saba Region University, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Association of Arab Universities in supporting higher education institutions across the Arab region. He affirmed that the university’s membership in the Association represents an important step toward enhancing its academic performance and strengthening its presence within the Arab academic community.
This meeting reflects the ongoing commitment of the Association of Arab Universities to supporting the quality of higher education and promoting scientific and research cooperation among Arab universities, in line with global developments in the higher education sector.
