His Excellency Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, inaugurated the 4th Annual Conference of the Scientific Association for Measurement and Evaluation, affiliated with the Association of Arab Universities and hosted by Ain Shams University. The conference is held within the framework of the 14th International Conference of Ain Shams University, under the theme: “Universities as Engines of National Development… Towards Innovation and Sustainable Economic Growth”, during the period 19–20 April 2026 in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
In his opening address, His Excellency emphasized the importance of developing measurement and evaluation systems in higher education institutions to ensure the quality of educational outcomes and keep pace with the requirements of the digital age. He noted that evaluation is no longer limited to measuring knowledge, but has increasingly focused on developing skills and competencies such as critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. He also stressed the importance of linking educational outcomes to labor market needs through the promotion of applied learning and the establishment of effective partnerships across various sectors.
In this context, His Excellency expressed his sincere appreciation to Ain Shams University for hosting the conference, its continuous support for the Association, and its outstanding efforts in organizing this scientific event. He also commended its ongoing contributions to the activities of the Association of Arab Universities, which enhance academic cooperation and contribute to the development of the higher education system in the Arab world.
For her part, Prof. Dr. Sahar Dewidar, Secretary-General of the Scientific Association for Measurement and Evaluation and President of the Conference, emphasized the importance of convening this scientific event, which reflects the modern trend towards assessing skills, competencies, and creativity alongside academic achievement. She noted that it serves as a scientific platform bringing together researchers and experts to exchange experiences and discuss best practices in the field of measurement and evaluation.
Prof. Dr. Anas Ratib Al-Soud, Executive Director of the Association of Arab Universities, also delivered a presentation entitled: “Reimagining University Assessment in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, in which he reviewed the rapid transformations in the field of artificial intelligence and their impact on the development of teaching and assessment methods.
The conference aims to develop evaluation practices in Arab higher education and to strengthen cooperation among Arab universities to build more equitable, effective, and future-oriented assessment systems.
The event was attended from the General Secretariat of the Association of Arab Universities by Ms. Lina Al-Bitar, Director of the General Administration of the Association, and Ms. Dina Abu Rizq, Coordinator of the Association’s institutional activities.
