Introduction to the Award

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (may Allah have mercy on him) is considered one of the most prominent supporters of the journey of science, research, and innovation in the Arab world. He gave great attention to encouraging scientific competencies and motivating creative minds to contribute to building knowledge societies and achieving sustainable development.

From this pioneering vision, the Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Global Award – Best Scientific Production Branch was established to reflect his commitment to strengthening a culture of scientific research and technological creativity across Arab universities—by honoring universities that have achieved outstanding outcomes through their researchers, with tangible scientific or applied impact in the service of development and society.

The Award aims to support the efforts of universities and research centers in elevating the level of Arab scientific production, and to encourage innovation as a key tool for economic and social progress. It also seeks to reinforce the international standing of Arab researchers and to affirm the vital role of science in building the future.

This Award also comes as a culmination of strategic objectives and plans that seek to establish solid foundations for a leading pathway of serious scientific research in its various fields—without excluding any Arab university—based on the conviction that scientific research and technological development are a shared renaissance mission for institutions and individuals, and that the outcome of this effort will benefit all Arab societies.

The Association of Arab Universities plays a pioneering coordinating role among Arab universities, within its 2019–2030 strategic plan to enhance, support, and facilitate scientific research, knowledge production, and innovation within universities and among them—toward solutions for shared regional and global challenges.
