The Association of Arab Universities Participates in the Opening of the World Arabic Language Day Celebration

H.E. Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, participated as a keynote speaker in the opening session of the World Arabic Language Day celebration, organized by the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture (Qatar). The event was held virtually, bringing together a distinguished group of ministers, senior officials, experts, and academics from across the region.
The celebration was convened under the theme “Innovative Horizons for the Arabic Language: Policies and Practices Shaping a More Inclusive Linguistic Future.” In his address, H.E. Prof. Salama emphasized the strategic importance of the Arabic language as a cornerstone of knowledge production and a key pillar in preserving cultural identity while enhancing the global presence of Arab culture.
He highlighted the pivotal role played by the Association of Arab Universities in advancing the Arabic language within higher education systems, including promoting its use in scientific research, supporting the development of Arabic digital content, and fostering academic programs and initiatives that empower the language in the era of digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
H.E. also underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration among academic and cultural institutions across the Arab world to develop innovative policies and practices that enhance the role of Arabic in science and technology and align it with future demands.
This participation reflects the Association’s ongoing commitment to supporting regional and international initiatives aimed at advancing the Arabic language, reinforcing its status as a language of science and knowledge, and enabling it to contribute effectively to sustainable development and the advancement of knowledge-based societies.
